After immigrating to Canada, there was this morning when I saw my stepfather with this little red and white game unit hooked up to the TV, knowing that game systems "should be" nice and big, I thought I'm going to see pong or something alike, but that Nintendo simply blew me away. From then on I was really into video gaming. Few years later came the PC-Engine (Turbo Grafx), Mega Drive (Genesis), then the Super Nintendo. Of course, a lot of games were played on the IBM too. Now days I'm a full blown Capcom fan with both DarkStalkers for the Playstation and NightWarriors for the Saturn. Don't ask how much I spent on both machines. ^_^;
Game wise, I think I can spend time on almost all types of games out there, except most sport games and many simulators. Action games, shooters, adventure, RPG, and fighting games have all been my favorites with different titles from numerous companies.
Aside from graphics and gameplay, I greatly enjoy many of the background music played in video games. Though almost any game company can create good music, I tend to like most Konami's music the most. Gradius was the first game that made me hum their music after playing the game. ^_^ Collected a few CD's now. Plan to find more the next time I drop by Japan.
Incidentally music from the above companies are all excellent.
Speaking of music, I'm definitely one of those who thrives it. From way back then in the Mega Drive/PC-Engine days I video tape my game finishes (that's for no good reason at all), then when I watched my tapes a long while later I wondered "Why don't I put some of these music on tape?" and I end up with a few tapes with mostly SNES music recorded straight from the games. Scary.
These days as I have more Japanese connections I finally have a tiny collection of game music CD's. I'll try to list as many as possible in the future, but for now this is the content of my little tape containing CD music that I like:
| Title | Company | Tracks |
| Street Fighter Alpha Soundtrack | Capcom |
|
| Vampire (DarkStalkers) | Capcom |
|
| Dracula Battle II | Konami | Various Themes |
For the past few years I've been having much fun using Chun Li, Ryu, and Guile. I seem to be the type who chooses which character to use according to their outlook. If the character looks like a dork (so long, Dhalsim), I lose interest learning him. ^^; I never try to be the best, but I certainly got enough practice to stay far, far away from the rookie level (well, it's BEEN 5 years). I love discussing about various gameplay aspects also, not just playing it. Working with SFLIU, I had the chance to not only have fun creating a silly mimic of the real SF2, but to learn alot about the innerworking about the actual game. Hit range, vulnerable range, interrupt points, graphic layout, moment equations, and more. There's an amazing array of secrets hidden behind the monitor screen.
So who's my favorite character? Probably Chun Li. But I'm the type which go for babes in video game (or whoever's agile). So you'll see me playing Mai, Charlette, Felicia, and some male characters such as Guy in SF Alpha.
